to go to benghazi, my hometown. every member of the delegation came to this country. when i speak about steven they say yes, chris, we know him. he talked to the people. he meet with the people. he knows their suffering. the main thing, that he trusts them and when they rised against gadhafi, he supported them. chris, it is a great loss for libya. we lost him as a friend and man that understands the history of the people of libya before and after. chris, he built the bridge between libya and the united states. a bridge of love, of hope. we never believed one day we would be able to raise against this dictatorship. i knew chris after he came back. i knew chris more. he would come to the house and we play tennis. after the tennis we come back home and have libyan breakfast. he is a man of principles and he is serious. i agree he never speaks about himself, what achievement he made. he is a guy when you look for him again. this is kind of different element but one time he told me story when he was serving in tripoli and then in benghazi. he walked on the street of benghazi and looked over

about what happened in benghazi, pick on me. ok. he is the one who was responsible. what was told of the added states -- was told to the united states on that day was a fable. it began with the demonstration, it got out of hand, there was a right, people ended up dead except there was no demonstration at all -- wait a minute -- it was known by the fbi three days after the benghazi attack and two days before susan rice went on tv. the fbi spoke to the people in the embassy they brought back to germany and they all said no demonstrations. what we have is a falsehood that this administration has yet to explain. >> she was working off talking points handed to her, and said if information it continues to be evaluated. that was part of the talking points as well. >> the libyan spokesman preceded her and contradicted the talking points. she chose not to address that for whatever reason. my question goes back to where is the conspiracy, where is the cover-up? where is the scandal? was the benghazi office inadequately secured? absolutely. decisions made at people have to be held accountabl

. martha: a dire warning in the fight against al qaeda. ed the deadly attack in benghazi may be just the beginning. bill: there i severe weather out west. the latest storm toppling trees and knock out power to tens of thousands. good morning, every one. we had a lot of stormy weather outwest over the weekend. even earlier last week we saw torrential rainfall across portions of oregon and washington. we saw heavy rain and strong winds. some wind gusts for over 100 miles an hour. thankfully for today we do have a bit of a quieter weather a person in store for parts of california. we do have a return to that stormy weather as we head into late tonight and into wednesday. the ground saturated. in portions of oregon, the ground saturated. that mean bad news. right now again pretty quiet over portions of california, oregon and washington. we have flash flood watches across portions of oregon and california. locally higher amount across the higher elevations. basically as we get into tuesday and wednesday. more heavy rain and snow spreading as far east as portions of the northern rockies. b

. this couldn't have been scripted bertd for her. leaving ahead of any benghazi fallout, everybody is begging her to stay. i wouldn't be surprised if there are floor plans for bubba's man cave. let's shed some light on this in the spin cycle. it seems like it was ordained by god. she's leaving just as this scandal is brewing. i mean, might not even touch her. i'm talking about benghazi, of course, even though it directly involves her department. she's on her way out. people are begging her to stay. already talking about when to see more of her. it really does look like everything is coming up roses for hillary. that said, i don't know that she's ever really faced the wrath of the gop machine in its fullest, when you think back to 2008. the gop machine was sort of split, split in its attention to obama and others as well as hillary. i don't know that she ever got its full attention. of course, back in her senate run, i don't know that anyone thinks that rick lazio was really the -- >> no. >> nothing against rick. he's a great guy. i don't know that she's been fully tested. then again, i don't

and protection at that compound location in benghazi. mike rogers, the intelligence chairman on the house side, he said that what i find absolutely gross negligence -- gross negligence is that they did not take the right precautions. meaning that the state department or the administration did not give the ambassador that kind of protection that he apparently was looking for. reporter: yes, you have the whistleblowers to testify on capitol hill. we talked to them as well. it is a three act tragedy. you have the security that was not there before them. you have the response during seven-hour firefight. and many of the questions about how it was characterized afterwards. there are many questions about benghazi that have yet to be fully answered. these hearings and the continued focus on capitol hill, i think it is going to stay in the forefront, at least it will continue to cover it. if ambassador rice is nominated, i guarantee you that it will still get coverage elsewhere as well. jon: i'm sure you'll be talking about it tonight. bret baier will talk about it on a special report 6:00 o'clock eas

with the benghazi situation. she read off of talking points. she's talented and capable woman whom i have known for many years. it's the president's call. he's entitled to have people in the positions that he chooses to have them. congress has to confirm these people. they have been warned that the susan rice confirmation could be difficult, but the president has a right to choose her if he wishes and with respect to john kerry, very capable man, according to press reports he's also being considered for the secretary of defense position. again, i don't know what happens there. he does a marvelous job in the united states congress as head of the foreign relations committee. we have all good options for john in my view. john kerry could serve ably in any number of positions. want to say about egypt, i don't know how much time you have, andrea, but some key egyptian national security officials are in washington now explaining egypt's recent actions. again that's a whole -- >> we were going to -- >> big pile of moves. i mean many good, some troubling, hopefully egypt and the people of egypt can fin
